Teacher's Testimony at Trials

            The U.S. Supreme Court held in Ohio v. Clark that a three-year-old's statements to his preschool teachers that his mother's boyfriend hit him could be admitted at trial even though the child did not testify.  At issue is the "confrontation clause" of the Sixth Amendment, which states that a criminal defendant has the right "to be confronted with the witnesses against him."

Medical Marijuana Update

Districts have been "buzzing" with fear of a wave of medical marijuana prescriptions for students.  The medical marijuana legislation taking effect in Illinois last year originally authorized medical marijuana for adults only.  But parents of children with severe seizure disorders moved for a change in the law to allow minors to get the drug as well.
