Competitive Bidding Threshold Increase

Effective January 1, 2024, Public Act 103-0008 increases the competitive bidding threshold from $25,000 to $35,000 on all contracts for the purchase of supplies, materials, or work involving an expenditure in excess of that threshold. Contracts must be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder, consistent with the same requirements in place prior to the increase to the threshold. Beginning January 1, 2024, purchases of $35,000 or less will not be required to use the competitive bidding process.
